THE HOT SPRINGS ASSOCIATION IS RESEARCHING NEW MODULE IN POOL CERTIFICATION PROGRAM: YOUR FEEDBACK IS REQUESTED

The Hot Springs Association is evaluating the development of a hot springs specific module in conjunction with a pool certification program.

We would appreciate your feedback on two certification programs in the swimming pool industry: the Certified Pool & Spa Operator® (CPO®) and the Aquatic Facility Operator (AFO). The CPO® certification is endorsed by the Pool and Hot Tub Alliance and recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). On the other hand, the AFO certification is endorsed by the National Recreation and Park Association. Both programs offer comprehensive training on various aspects of pool operation, including water chemistry, disinfection, mechanical systems, and safety.

Your participation in this survey will help us gain insight into the prevalence and effectiveness of these certification programs and identify gaps that need to be addressed for hot springs operations.

Please complete the survey by May 25th.

WORLD BATHING DAY IS JUNE 22

Join us in celebrating World Bathing Day on Thursday, June 22, 2023. This year's theme is AWAKEN.

What is World Bathing Day?

On June 22, people around the planet are invited to celebrate humanity’s common connection to water through the practice of bathing. The simple act of immersing oneself in water has the power to break down barriers between people of different backgrounds and to bring communities closer together. The 2023 theme "Awaken" for the global bathing event aims to promote unity between people and nature and people from diverse backgrounds, allowing us to heal, learn, play, and awaken our full potential together.

Ways to Get Involved:

• Work with your team to plan a World Bathing Day celebration at your facility on Thursday, June 22.
• Starting communicating with your community about the opportunities for getting involved by sharing stories on social media with the hashtag #worldbathingday
• Explore the opportunity to engage with your local outstanding musical artists to film and edit a short performance at your bathing facility as part of the Global Sound Bath (*This year to be captured in the 2 weeks from June 1 - 14, and then compiled together to be shared as one short film online to our communities on June 22. **More details to come.)

MARKETING OPPORTUNITIES THROUGH WORLD WELLNESS WEEKEND

World Wellness Weekend is a pro-bono event launched in 2017 that supports the United Nations objective of "Good Health & Wellbeing for All." Participation in the event opens up the opportunity to demonstrate how your business combats inactivity, obesity, and anxiety.

In 2022, 5,000 venues participated in 139 countries, reaching an audience of 19 million people with 2,200 mentions (TV, radio, print) and 7,000 posts on social media. In 2023, 8,000 venues will participate in 150 countries with the support of Health and Tourism Ministers, 30 mayors and 60 professional associations.

World Wellness Weekend will be held on September 15, 16, and 17th of 2023.

To attract new visitors and media attention, participating venues are encouraged to organize fun and free group activities for their clients, members, local communities, and staff. These activities can be held in person or online to reach a wider audience. Participating in at least one activity earns the venue an "OFFICIAL PARTICIPANT" badge. Venues that organize three activities receive the "WELLNESS CHAMPION" badge, which can be promoted in local media and online. Further details can be found in the Communication Kit on page 35.
